Halloween kicks into high gear on Friday and Saturday, October 25 and 26, with the Barre Lion Club “Zombie Asylum” haunted house at the Vermont Granite Museum on the outskirts of downtown Barre. The annual event, produced by the Barre Haunters Guild, has become a Central Vermont favorite for kids of all ages.
The 14th annual Wheels for Warmth event helps provide emergency heating assistance for vulnerable Vermonters in winter. Tires are collected during the month of October at locations around the state. The event is a three-day event, the last Thursday, Friday and Saturday in October. On Thursday and Friday tires are dropped off and inspected by DMV officials at locations in Montpelier, Rutland, Stowe and Williston. The tire sale takes place Saturday from 7am-12pm in Montpelier and Rutland. Proceeds from this event go to emergency heating assistance provided by Capstone Community Action, CVOEO and BROC. The 2018 Tire Drop will be held on Thursday, October 25th and Friday, October 26th. The Tire Sale will be held on Saturday, October 27th.

Kinney Drugs, a leading pharmacy chain in New York and Vermont, is partnering with the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration and state and local law enforcement officials to offer individuals safe disposal of both controlled and non-controlled prescription drugs as well as over-the-counter medications. (No sharps will be collected.) Kinney Drugs will host events at many New York and Vermont stores on Saturday, October 26th from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. All events are free and open to the public. During last October’s 2018 National Take-Back event, 914,236 pounds (457.12 tons) of medications were collected.

The Barre Partnership will again be sponsoring the annual downtown employee Halloween costume contest on Halloween Day, October 31. Employees at almost thirty downtown businesses will be getting in the Halloween spirit in full Halloween costume. The extremely creative costumes that are on display in this friendly competition never cease to amaze. EVENT 4-5PM
Youth Environmental Summit 2019, Barre Civic Center, 8:30AM-2PM. Speak Out. Act Up. Be the Change. The Youth Environmental Summit (YES) is an annual conference for middle and high school students (grades 6-12).
The 5th annual Granite City 5K Run/Walk for Veterans is November 2, 2019. This event is produced in collaboration by the Barre Partnership and Capstone Community Action. The registration period is open until the day of the race. All profit of this event goes to Capstone Community Action’s veteran services. RACE STARTS AT 9AM
